Stanley Cup Tips
The NHL action comes thick and fast throughout the regular season with each team playing 82 games, totalling 1,271 total regular-season games. We at Degen bring the best picks from the almost daily action.
Our Picks: –
Colorado Avalanche ML @5/6 vs Oilers
The Colorado Avalanche will be hosting the Edmonton Oilers for their 2nd game of the season against each other! The Avalanche took the first match in Edmonton 3-2 in OT. We think the Oilers defense/goaltending has not looked good as of late and the Avalanche are a team that can make those kinds of teams pay. The Avalanche have a better squad and although they are on the back to back for us they take this one at home.
Predators vs Wild – Under 6.0 @10/11
We’ve got another early one with the Nashville Predators traveling to Minnesota to take on the Wild for their second match of the season, the Predators won the first match 2-1. We’ve got two teams who are fairly consistent for hitting the under with the Predators hitting this line 4-4-2 in their last 10 (they played a number of high scoring teams in this stretch) and the Wild hitting this line 8-0-2 in their last 10. We expected this line to drop at 5.5, so were taking what we think is good value here.
The Predators are on a B2B and rested their starting goalie, Saros, yesterday. Saros is having a decent season with a 0.917 SV% and allowing an average of 2.79 goals per game. The Wild have confirmed Gustavsson in net and he is also having a decent season with a 0.928 SV% and allowing an average of 2.12 goals per game. Both the Predators and Wild have struggled on offense this season with the Predators averaging 2.77 goals per game and the Wild averaging 2.85 goals per game this season.
Ottawa Senators TT o3.5 @10/11 vs St. Louis Blues
Senators are coming off a bad loss to the Blackhawks where they blew a 3-1 lead in the 3rd period to one of the worst offensive teams in the league. Blues lost 4-1 yesterday, didn’t show a lot of fight against the Avalanche even after the trade of their captain.
Expected goalie for the Blues is Thomas Griess. He is a lower tier backup goalie. Blues have only started Binnington in b2b starts in 1/8 opportunities. So Griess should be a go. He has allowed 4+ GA in 8/12 starts this year, The Blues have allowed 4+ goals on 6/8 b2b games this year. The Blues have allowed 4+ GA in 7 of their last 10 games. Senators have looked better offensively lately, we think they look to get off to a hot start after sitting back in the 3rd on Friday. They are also better offensively at home.
Other Picks:
Blackhawks vs Maple Leafs ML @5/13
Devils vs Jets – Over 6.5 @5/6
Coyotes ML @4/5 vs Blue Jackets
