Manchester City have had a wild week with the news of their dodgy financial activities doing the rounds, and while any potential penalties are still to be decided (awarding some titles to Liverpool retrospectively we think is fair), Pep will have them fired up and ready to prove a point today. I’d say we feel sorry for villa but we don’t.
Man City fired blanks last week against Tottenham and missed a great chance to close the gap on Arsenal, with their team selection questionable. With Arsenal dropping points again yesterday, they won’t fuck around this week and we will see their best 11 which means goals, goals and more goals.
Aston Villa have been better under a new manager in recent weeks but they are still defensively frail, giving up 4 goals against Leicester at home last week. They also scored two of their own, and while it’s not unreasonable to think they might score again today, they will find it much tougher against Man City at both ends.
Winning today closes the gap to 3 points with a game against Arsenal coming up next. Even if Villa do score, this smells like a game where a pissed off City will want to make a statement and score a big win.
