Week 18 Last Week Of The Regular Season

How do you make picks in Week 18 of the NFL season?

In a lot of ways, it’s maybe tougher than Week 1. Some teams have everything to play for, ranging from home-field advantage to a divisional title to a wild-card spot. Others have the option of resting starters. It makes for a messy week of picks, especially when those decisions can be made in real time based on other results.

That’s why Week 18 the most-exciting week of the season, and also the toughest to pick. It starts on Saturday with Kansas City looking to wrap up home-field advantage in the AFC at Las Vegas. The AFC South also will be decided between Tennessee and Jacksonville. Sunday has some great questions, too.

Will Buffalo end New England’s chances of the playoffs and give either Miami or Pittsburgh a chance to edge in? Will the Green Bay-Detroit game be for a playoff on both sides? Only if Seattle loses to the Rams. There is a lot to sort out, so lets give it ago.

Sundays Picks:

Washington Commanders vs Dallas Cowboys – Our Game Of The Day

Cowboys -7.0 @10/11

We can already hear some groaning because were backing the Cowboys (all will become clear). This pick isn’t about them. Just like last week’s easy win, we’re going to find the least motivated team here in the final week of the season and fade them.

We honestly can’t think of a less motivated team in week 18 than the Washington Commanders.

In just the latest of a series of stupid decisions, the Commanders turned back to Carson Wentz last week to predictably poor results. We could break down how silly that decision was, but Rich Eisen did a great job of that on his show this week. This theory could be the reason.

Now add in the fact that head coach Ron Rivera had to be told by reporters after the game that the Commanders got eliminated when the Packers won later that day, and the fact that their POS owner is basically being forced to sell the team, then you have to wonder if anyone is really in charge here. Plus with the whole Damar Hamelin situation (may he have a speedy, full recovery!), you have to question where people’s heads are at. This being a home game is even a plus for this line – for these players, they can drive home immediately or have a flight booked out of town later that day. Walk away from this disaster of a season as fast as humanly possible.

Lions vs Packers – Dog Of The Day

Lions ML @2/1

Were going to keep this short and simple. If you look at the packers with Aaron Jones, Christian Watson, and Aaron Rodgers or the Lions with Goff, Swift, and Amon ra… who are you taking. It is definitely the Lions and their run defense has been extremely good, which favors well against the run heavy Packers. Lions have a good track record against good teams in the later half of the season. Lets go Lions and + odds money.

Bears vs Vikings

Bears +7 @10/11

Peterman getting the start, lot of injuries so young players will be playing with heart to make a name for themselves. Minnesota clinched AFC north so starters will likely be benched early. If Vikings come out hot early we will be live lining anything above starting odds.

Bills vs Patriots

Over 43.5 Points @10/11

The Patriots win and they’re in. The Bills can’t get the 1 seed since the Chiefs won but they could still get the 2 seed instead of 3 if they win this game. The 2 seed locks in a home game in the divisional round. They can get the 2 seed if the Bengals lose to the Ravens but they play at the same time. So our over Points pick is what we think will be the safest bet as both sides will be going for it.

Steelers vs Browns

Steelers ML @4/6

The Steelers can make playoffs if they win and the Pats and Dolphins lose (Pats projected to lose and Dolphins are only favored by 2). Steelers will play all out. Browns are out of playoffs. So not much more to say.

Bengals vs Ravens

Bengals -9.0 @10/11

The Ravens are currently the 6 seed but could earn the 5 seed if they win and the Chargers lose to the Broncos. If that happens a Ravens-Bengals Wild Card matchup would happen and the NFL will do a coin flip to are who gets home field advantage for that game. The Bengals could get the 2 seed if they win and the Bills lose.

Broncos vs Chargers

Broncos ML @20/33

The Chargers will win the 5 or 6 seed. To get the 5 seed, they’ll need to win and the Bengals beat the Ravens. If the Ravens lose the Chargers won’t have anything to play for. The odds opened at a pickem are now up to Broncos -3 suggesting the books think the Chargers will end up resting starters. The Broncos are out of the playoffs.

49ers vs Cardinals

49ers ML @1/11

The 49ers still have a chance at the 1 seed if they win and the Giants upset the Eagles. They get the 2 seed if they win and the Eagles win or if they lose and the Vikings lose. They could be a 3 seed if they lose and the Vikings win. The Cardinals are starting David Blough and DeAndre Hopkins is out.

Other Picks:

Eagles vs Giants

Eagles ML @1/14

The Eagles win and they get the 1 seed and a bye. Jalen Hurts most likely will return for this game as well. The Giants are locked into their seeding and will probably rest their starters.

Dolphins vs Jets

Dolphins ML @1/2

The Dolphins will play to win. They have to win and the Bills have to beat the Pats for them to make playoffs. Jets are out of the playoffs.

Seahawks vs Rams

Seahawks ML @5/14

The Seahawks need a win to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Rams have nothing to play for.

Falcons vs Buccaneers

Falcons ML @1/2

Both will look set to rest players from the start.
