Detroit Red Wings at Buffalo Sabres -1.5 @6/4
Red Wings travel to Buffalo after coming off a massive comeback against the Penguins last night. Some may think the Red Wings can carry that high over into the game tonight, but that sort of game, win or lose, can be pretty taxing. Meanwhile, Buffalo is coming in tonight after resting a week and a half. Devil’s advocate may argue a 10 day rest period came at a bad time for the Sabres because they were riding a 4 game win streak, but these are professionals so they should be able to carry that momentum forward.
Ville Husso started in net for the Red Wings, and he had a poor showing so Hellberg came in and saved the night. Alex Nedeljkovic is projected to get the start tonight for the Red Wings and the Wings perform significantly worse when he’s in net. Craig Anderson should be in net for Sabres, which is good news for them.
Let’s dive deeper. Sabres rank 3rd in my model for high scoring chances scored, while the Red Wings rank 32nd in allowing high scoring chance goals, so we expect Sabres pepper the net a ton. Were not a player prop picker today, but looking at Tage Thompson points may be a nice way to go as well.
Minnesota Wild ML @4/5 vs Dallas Stars
The Minnesota Wild will be hosting the Dallas Stars for their second game of the season against each other. The Wild have been playing phenomenal hockey lately! They have been hot with their scoring and their goaltending/defense have both been incredible. The Stars are no slouches and they will not give this one up easily but the Wild are the hotter team right now and we expect them to be up for the challenge of getting another win over Dallas. This should be a fun and heated divisional game, make sure not to miss this one!
