Jordan finished the preliminary rounds at the second place with a 2-1 W/L record they’ve won their last game against Saudi Arabia 64-74. Jordan started that game slow and Saudi’s led by as much as 13 points on the early part of the first quarter but they came back an had an 11 pt lead at the half and they never looked back. their starters played only limited minutes during that game in preparation for this knock out match against Taiwan.
Taiwan on the other hand finished the preliminary rounds at the 3rd place with a 1-2 W/L record. they’ve lost their last two games against South Korea and China. China dominated them early on their last game as the Chinese squad led by as much as 22 at some point during the first half but Taiwan made a furious comeback in the third quarter as they managed to get close and they reduced the deficit by just 3 points but China are just too deep and too strong for Taiwan and they won the game 80-95.
Jordan have got all the advantage in this game IMO. the depth, the height, the strength, the athleticism. Dar Tucker, Jordan’s naturalized player averaged 21 points on their first two games before resting against Saudi and Ahmad Al Dwairi of Fenerbache has been one of the best big men in the tournament averaging 12.7 PPG and 13.7 RPG, 3 Assists 1 steal and a block per game.
Will Artino, the lone legit big man of Taiwan has been putting up a decent but inefficient numbers so far with 17 PPG and 9 RPG but he’s shooting just under 40% from the field and that’s not good for a 6’11” dude. he’s gonna have a hard time against Jordan who has got themselves two 6’11”s to match up with him. Ting-Chien Lin and Ying-Chun Chen has been a steady backcourt for Taiwan as they are averaging 18 and 12.3 points per game respectively but aside from them they don’t have much more firepower from the bench and that’s their main weakness is their lack of depth.
Indonesia +19.5 @1.8
Indonesia finished the preliminary rounds at the 3rd place with a 1-2 W/L record, they have lost their last two games after winning their first match against Saudi Arabia. Australia defeated them 78-53 in the last game. Indonesian’s was leading after the first quarter 11 to 16 but the boomer’s depth and size is just too much for the home team.
Marques Bolden has been leading this Indonesian team on both end of the floor as he is averaging 22 points rebounds and 3 blocks per game. Derrick Michael is their best local player with 11 points and almost 10 rebounds per game.
China on the other hand finished the preliminary rounds as the 2nd placer with a 2-1 W/L record, they have won their last two matches against Bahrain and Taiwan. Zhou Qi missed the first two games but he came back last game against Taiwan and he put up 10 points and 8 rebound in 18 minutes of play. we should expect him to play longer minutes on this very important game.
Gu Quan is China’s leading scorer he is averaging 17.3 PPG on 50% 3pt shooting he was also the one who made that put back shot in their game against Bahrain that saved them from embarrassment.
China is going to win this match no doubt but this is the most important basketball game in the history of Indonesia so I am expecting a decent performance on their part. their dreams of playing in the world cup next year is on the line, their fans are going to be wild and the referees will give them all the favorable calls. they will try to make this as close as possible just to give them a shot at the end game and they have the tools to do so. Bolden will play the whole game just like he did against Jordan and the rest of their starters will play at least 32 minutes. they can keep this close.
