Our Picks:
Rockets ML @6/4 vs Mavericks
Young team that will be going all out to clinch a knockout stage game in the IST.
They’ve shown they can hang with good teams, great defensive rating so far. Mavs might be without Lively again and lack perimeter D. Rockets are still winless on the road … probably overdue given their talent.
Bucks -4.5 @10/11 vs Heat
The Bucks have covered the spread in each of their last 4 road games, while Miami is only 1-4 ATS in home games this year. It’s tough to bet against the Heat in this spot being underdogs at home, but going with the trends here, and were thinking the Bucks are determined to make a statement and lock up the IST group after what happened in the playoffs last year.
Raptors vs Nets -1.5 @10/11
The Nets have been monsters ATS so far this year, currently 12-3-1 ATS overall, including 7-1-1 ATS at home. Toronto hasn’t necessarily been bad lately, going 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 overall, but the Nets can still win the group if they win tonight by 15+ points, depending on what the Celtics do. And we think the Nets are one of the teams that are taking the tourney seriously since they don’t have a realistic chance come playoff time.
Kings -1.5 @10/11 vs Warriors
The Kings are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games, and are coming back home after a long road trip. The Warriors are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games, with the 3 covers by 0.5, 1.5, and 2 points. Barring a blowout loss tonight, the Kings have locked up their group, but there should be a revenge factor for them after the playoffs last year and the Klay game winner earlier this month. Interesting that the line is only a couple points. We know DG is coming back tonight, but the line seems suspicious to be. Sticking with the trends here and going with the Kings to cover.
Hornets +11.5 @10/11 vs Knicks
Great line. ATS the Knicks perform worse at home, Hornets perform better on the road, these were both strong trends last season that we think are shaping out again.
Knicks did already beat the Hornets by more than 11.5 twice this month, but they had a big rest advantage in the first meeting, and both met on no rest in the second.
Celtics ML @2/15 vs Bulls
This is a rare moment in sports where we are expecting the Celtics to blow out the Bulls, but not pulling their starters late in the game. As this is an in-season tournament game, the Celtics need to beat the Bulls by a large amount to have a chance to win Group C. We can see them pulling ahead and not taking their foot off the gas. We also like the over 219.0 @10/11 for value.
