Denver Nuggets vs LA Lakers
Pick: Lakers +5.5 @10/11
Lakers are looking for revenge after getting embarrassed last post season, being swept by the eventual champion Nuggets. However, if you watched that series you will know that each game was back and forth between the teams with the Lakers playing as hard as we have ever seen them play with this regime. The Nuggets just executed better down the stretch of each game and pulled off the sweep.
We fancy the Lakers here to come in and try to spoil the Nuggets season opener. Lakers added some much needed depth behind AD with Christian Wood who played really well for the Mavericks last year. The additional of Gabe should help spread the floor and increase the Lakers 3 point percentage. Lastly, Lakers brought in Taurean prince this offseason for some improved defense off the bench.
On the flip side, Nuggets lost their 6th man of the year Bruce Brown, and their locker room leader in Jeff Green. We still think the Nuggets are overall a better team, featuring one of the best players in the world in Jokic and one of the best guards in the world with Jamal Murray. That being said we like the Lakers to keep it close tonight.
Will DLo play defense tonight? Will Rui continue to improve from last year? Did Austin Reaves make a jump this off season playing international ball? These are all questions that will only be answered with time.
Golden State Warriors vs PHX Suns
Warriors -2.5 @10/11
Warriors were 30-16-1 ATS at home last year and still have Steph, Klay and Wiggins healthy tonight with the addition of CP3. The Suns will be without Beal tonight and a team that has pieces of last year’s roster, but for the most part is completely remade. We expect the Warriors to control the boards tonight and their second team to outpace the Suns when Durant and Booker are both off the court.
