Preview:

Rangers are set to host their arch-rivals Celtic at Ibrox Stadium in an eagerly anticipated Scottish Premiership clash this coming Sunday.

Following an unexpected 1-0 defeat in their season opener, the home team has rebounded with two consecutive victories, the most recent being a 2-0 away triumph against Ross County last week. Their success was sealed through first-half goals, with James Tavernier and Kemar Roofe finding the net just four minutes apart.

On the other hand, the reigning champions, Celtic, have embarked on an unbeaten journey in the league so far this season but experienced their first setback in three games with a goalless draw against St. Johnstone last week. They’ve encountered difficulties finding the back of the net, extending their goalless streak to two games, following their elimination from the Scottish League Cup with a 1-0 loss to Kilmarnock in the second round two weeks ago.

Head to Head:

  • The Old Firm rivals have squared off 436 times in all competitions. The hosts have a narrow lead in the head-to-head record with 169 wins. The visitors have significantly narrowed the hosts’ advantage in recent years and have 165 wins to their name. 102 meetings between them have ended in draws.
  • The hosts have just one win in their last seven meetings against the visitors, with that win coming at home in the Premiership second phase in May.
  • The hosts have the joint-best defensive record in the league, conceding just once in three games while the visitors have the joint-best attacking record, scoring seven goals in three games.
  • At the Ibrox, Rangers are unbeaten in their last 22 league games, recording 19 wins. Their last home loss in the Premiership came against Celtic in April 2022.
