Verlander is taking the mound for the Astros, and he’s been his normal dominant self, allowing only 7 runs in his last 5 starts (32.1 IP). On the mound for Miami is Jesus Luzardo, who is undoubtedly having a good year overall but has been struggling badly of late, allowing 15 runs in his last 3 starts (13.1 IP). Worth noting that before that 3 game stretch he was on a dominant run in June and July, but lets trust Verlander to keep it close even if Houston’s bats are silent. Hopefully that won’t happen, though; on offense, Houston is scoring 5.9 runs/game over their last 10, while Miami is scoring just 4.3 runs/game. Miami is a solid team and is playing at home, but that’s not enough to justify a line this close.

Reds definitely need to get some wins, they cannot lose 2 in a row to the Guardians! They need to close the gap on the Cubs and Brew Crew if they want to be in this wild card race or clinching the division. So were not only backing the desperate team, but we are also taking who we think is the better offensive team.
