Date: Jul 11–14, 2024
The Genesis Scottish Open is one of the most exciting golf tournaments on the tour, it spans four days and brings together 156 skilled players. It kicks off mid July, and offers a 36-hole cut to determine the top 65 players who will advance to the final two rounds.
The tournament is hosted at the remarkable Renaissance Club course, which was expertly designed by the renowned Tom Doak. This course has retained its original undulating features and offers a thrilling challenge with its punishing rough. The course stretches over 7,300 yards from the back tees, but it also provides a range of tee options, measuring from 7,300 to 5,500 yards, catering to players of different styles and abilities.
The Renaissance Club features an array of stunning long par 4s, complemented by diverse par 3s and 5s. Situated in close proximity to the North Sea, players must take into account the often significant presence of wind. Despite taking place in July, the long-term weather forecast suggests that the conditions will be both wet and windy, adding an additional element of difficulty to the tournament.
Our Picks:
Xander Schauffele @17/2
This is a top pick. He won the Scottish Open in 2022 and has shown remarkable consistency in 2024, with 11 top-10 finishes, just behind Scottie Scheffler’s 13. Although he tied for 42nd here last year, Schauffele’s overall performance has been stellar, with only two finishes outside the top 40 in nearly two years.
Tommy Fleetwood @22/1
One of our favourite players on the tour who we back regularly, we just think that sadly he has struggled with consistent form but were taking a punt here as his due a change in fortunes and this is virtually home soil.
Tom Kim @ 30-1
This is a strong value play for a top 10 player in a somewhat limited field. He has strong course history, in good form, and coming off a few weeks off which was needed after the playoff loss to Scottie.
