The Wimbledon Championships, affectionately referred to as Wimbledon, stands as the most ancient tennis tournament globally and enjoys unparalleled esteem as the most prestigious event in the sport.

Date: Mon, 1st Jul 2024 – Sun, 14th Jul 2023

Prize Money: £44.700.000 (2023)

Day 2 Main Picks:

Andy Murray vs Tomas Machac

Murray ML @12/5

Is this Andy Murray’s final Wimbledon? Quite possibly. Will he lose in first round if it is? Not a chance; not against Machac.

Taylor Fritz vs Christopher O’Connell

Fritz 3-0 @8/11

Christopher O’Connell should provide Taylor Fritz with a good early test, but it is hard to see the Australian upending Fritz given the American’s excellent recent form – which includes a run to the title in Eastbourne.

Alejandro Tabilo vs Dan Evans

Over 40.5 @10/11

One might usually feel confident in Dan Evans’ chances against a South American opponent at Wimbledon. But Alejandro Tabilo has proven himself an adept grass-courter and comes into the match fresh from winning his second title in Mallorca. Evans, meanwhile, can hardly buy a win.

Jacob Fearnley vs Alejandro Moro Canas

Fearnley ML @1/2

This could be a very watchable encounter and it is a huge opportunity for both to reach the second round at Wimbledon. There is not a huge amount in it on paper, but Jacob Fearnley will no doubt be able to call on the support of the crowd. Whilst that might add to the pressure, it could also make the difference when it matters most.

Katie Boulter vs Tatjana Maria

Boulter 2-0 @4/6

Boulter defended that Nottingham title and should be among the best players on grass on tour. But can she get tripped up by the slice and dice game of Maria, a former Wimbledon semifinalist? The Brit needs to play smart to win here and not press too much.

Harriet Dart vs Zhuoxuan Bai

Dart ML @4/9

Dart isn’t even that dangerous on grass, but she moves well and has more experience on the surface than the rest of the tour. It can be enough to trip up some players though and Bai is still growing into her game a little bit with the experience she’s been gathering.

Jessica Pegula vs Ashlyn Krueger

Pegula 2-0 @1/2

Far from the easiest Round 1 for Pegula, who’s facing a countrywoman with easy power. Krueger’s grass court performances have been nothing special and she’ll likely not have enough to take this match, but last year’s quarterfinalist has to be fairly cautious here.

We try to pick our favoured matches as we want wins and will only go for value, especially in the early rounds.
