The Wimbledon Championships, affectionately referred to as Wimbledon, stands as the most ancient tennis tournament globally and enjoys unparalleled esteem as the most prestigious event in the sport.

Date: Mon, 1st Jul 2024 – Sun, 14th Jul 2023

Prize Money: £44.700.000 (2023)

Day 1 Main Picks:

Daria Kasatkina vs Shuai Zhang

Pick: Kasatkina 2-0 @2/9

Kasatkina comes into this tournament after winning the title in Eastbourne. If she is feeling weary at all, this is the ideal opening round for her. Zhang has not played a singles match since the Madrid Open two months ago, focusing on playing doubles. It is difficult to see how she stays with Kasatkina.

Tamara Korpatsch vs Yuriko Miyazaki

Over 22.5 games @10/11

This is a good draw for both players. Miyazaki is a wild card with just one previous Grand Slam main draw win to her name, while Korpatsch has lost all her main draw grass court matches so far this season. This is a tough one to call, but Korpatsch is given a slight edge. She possesses an awkward playing style that may force enough errors from Miyazaki over three sets.

Donna Vekic vs Xiyu Wang

Vekic 2-0 @10/11

Vekic was the runner-up in Bad Homburg, giving her some momentum for the third Grand Slam of the year. Wang plays her best tennis on hard courts and is up against it. Fatigue after her run in Bad Homburg is the only thing that could threaten Vekic here.

Ugo Humbert vs Alexander Shevchenko

Humbert 3-0 @11/10

Ugo Humbert’s game is perfect for grass but he hasn’t quite translated that into wins this season. He lost in his opening round matches in his last two events and will look to correct that. Shevchenko hasn’t won a match on grass this year and only won one in his short career so far. Humbert is the more experienced player on this surface and his flat strokes will be too hot to handle for Shevchenko.

Alexandre Muller vs Hugo Gaston

Over 39.5 games @10/11

Two Frenchmen face off in this match who prefer to play on clay and have very little experience on grass. Hugo Gaston has played three matches in qualifying and he looked solid in them. Muller is the more aggressive player but he also likes time on his shots. Gaston has more variety with excellent drop shots. This match can go either way but we like Gaston more.

Daniil Medvedev vs Aleksandar Kovacevic

Medvedev 3-0 @1/3

Daniil Medvedev hasn’t been at his absolute best in the last couple of months but he is always a quality player and performs at his best in Slams. He has a good first-round match to get himself into rhythm. Kovacevis has little to no experience on grass and won’t pose a problem to last year’s semifinalist. Medvedev is also our favourite to take the Wimbledon title.

We try to pick our favoured matches as we want wins and will only go for value, especially in the early rounds.
