The Australian Grand Prix is an annual motor racing event which is under contract to host Formula One until 2035. One of the oldest surviving motorsport competitions held in Australia, the Grand Prix has moved frequently with 23 different venues having been used since it was first run at Phillip Island in 1928.
Starting Grid –
The new season of Formula 1 is firmly up and running in 2024, and after the first two races of the campaign in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the 20 drivers now head down under to Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix.
Red Bull, and their number one driver Max Verstappen, have picked up from where they left off in 2023, storming to victory in both Sakhir and Jeddah respectively as the three-time defending world champion stakes his claim for a fourth Drivers’ Championship victory in a row.
Other teams including Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes have really struggled to keep up the pace so far in 2024, although Charles Leclerc recorded the fastest lap in Saudi Arabia on his way to a third-placed finish. Carlos Sainz, who finished third in Bahrain and was the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race in 2023, was absent through appendicitis last time out, and his 18-year-old stand-in Oliver Bearman impressed to record a seventh-placed finish.

Max Verstappen – Winner + Fastest Lap @3/4
He’s won the first two races of the season by dominant margins, and it’s certainly going to take something special from one of the other 19 drivers to knock Max Verstappen off his perch, and that hasn’t looked like happening yet.
Charles Leclerc – Podium @11/10
Leclerc may have crashed out in the very first lap of last year’s Australian Grand Prix, but having recorded the fastest lap in Jeddah two weeks ago, the first bonafide racing achievement by a non-Red Bull driver in 2024 he’s well placed to build on that strong third-placed showing in Melbourne.
Lewis Hamilton – Top 6 Finish @11/10
With plus odds this seems like a good pick, although Lewis has not stated well and is in 11th place on the grid we see a big race from the Brit.
