The Six Nations Championship is an annual international men’s rugby union competition between the teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. The current champions are Ireland, who won the 2023 tournament.

Week 2 Picks:

England vs Wales – 4.45pm GMT

Picks:

England to win @4/19

Over 46.0 @10/11

England will be looking to maintain their unbeaten record in the 2024 Six Nations when they play host to Wales at Twickenham Stadium in their second match of the competition on Saturday.

The Red Roses are in second place in the standings after securing victory in the first round of matches, while the Dragons are fourth but did manage two bonus points despite suffering defeat in their tournament opener.

While England’s start to their first match of the competition in Rome was far from impressive, it was nothing compared to the shocking display Wales put on in the first half in Cardiff against the incoming Scotland.

The Dragons were steamrolled in the first 40 minutes of the match, and after going 27-0 down just three minutes into the second period, it looked as though a hefty defeat was on the cards for them. We don’t see this been any easier for Wales and expect another heavy defeat.

Scotland vs France – 2.15pm GMT

Pick:

Scotland to win @15/8

Most neutrals would likely agree that this year presents Scotland with the opportunity to mount a title challenge, but to realise that ambition, they will need to defeat one of the heavyweights. Based on week one, they have a window of opportunity to achieve that feat this weekend.

Still, on paper, France boasts a stronger squad, especially considering the injuries to two key Scottish forwards, but despite this advantage, there is ample room for improvement in their performance from last week.

Ireland vs Italy – 3pm GMT (Sunday)

Picks:

Ireland -32.0 @1/1

Over 61.0 @10/11

Ireland have any number of players capable of running in a try and will stretch the Italians wide at every opportunity. All the same, it is unlikely to be plain sailing for Ireland in the first half. The physicality of the Italian team could take some overcoming.

Italy may be capable of trading blows with the Irish in the first period. As limbs become battered and weary in the second half, the floodgates could open up for Ireland. They never eased up in France, and Italy will likely be found wanting as the clock runs down.
