The defending champion Las Vegas Aces made easy work of the Chicago Sky in the first round of the 2023 WNBA playoffs, just as everyone expected. They completed the two-game sweep with a point differential of 50 and did not trail for a single second. Now, they’re on to the semifinals for a fifth consecutive season and will continue their quest to become the first repeat champions since the 2001 and 2002 Los Angeles Sparks.
The Wings are a fun team with a promising future, but they’re too inconsistent on offense and do not play anywhere near enough defense to hang with the Aces in this series. The defending champs are heavy favorites for a good reason.
