Anthony Joshua is set to face off against the 6ft 9in tall Robert Helenius this coming Saturday (12/08/23). This match comes as a result of ‘The Viking’ stepping in unexpectedly after the original bout with Dillian Whyte was called off.

The scheduled Joshua-Whyte fight had to be abandoned last week due to Whyte’s positive drugs test. This test was conducted as part of a routine anti-doping procedure. Despite the results, Whyte is resolute in his denial of any misconduct and has expressed his determination to prove his innocence, and we for one believe he will.

Anthony Joshua vs Robert Helenius

Picks:

Joshua win in Rounds 1-4 @11/8

Over 1.5 knockdowns @11/10

At just a week’s notice, Robert Helenius has stepped up to replace Dillian Whyte. Helenius secured a victory against an underwhelming opponent in his most recent bout and had a rough defeat against Wilder, being knocked out in a single round towards the end of last year.

Comparatively, Anthony Joshua displayed disciplined prowess in his last match against Franklin, claiming a decisive victory. However, it’s evident that Helenius has endured considerable damage over time. At 39 years old, he has suffered knockout losses in three out of his four defeats, and his diminished mobility is noticeable.

The upcoming fight seems to be positioned for Joshua’s advantage, with his eyes potentially set on a showdown with Wilder in December, as rumors suggest contractual agreements have already been established. This bout appears tailored for Joshua to assert dominance, considering Helenius’s slowed movement. It’s anticipated that Joshua will exploit Helenius’s sluggishness, particularly with his jab, starting from the opening moments.

Although Joshua has appeared somewhat cautious since his loss to Ruiz, he remains a force to be reckoned with in the division, being regarded as the second most potent fighter. His speed and power are likely to overwhelm Helenius, whose vulnerable stance and decreased speed make him an easy target for Joshua’s strikes. Forecasts indicate that this encounter may not be as swift as Wilder’s matches, but Joshua’s skillset should still propel him to a victory within four rounds.
