Golfing Tips
Date: Jul 13–16, 2023
The Genesis Scottish Open is one of the most exciting golf tournaments on the tour, it spans four days and brings together 156 skilled players. It kicks off mid July, and offers a 36-hole cut to determine the top 65 players who will advance to the final two rounds.
The tournament is hosted at the remarkable Renaissance Club course, which was expertly designed by the renowned Tom Doak. This course has retained its original undulating features and offers a thrilling challenge with its punishing rough. The course stretches over 7,300 yards from the back tees, but it also provides a range of tee options, measuring from 7,300 to 5,500 yards, catering to players of different styles and abilities.
The Renaissance Club features an array of stunning long par 4s, complemented by diverse par 3s and 5s. Situated in close proximity to the North Sea, players must take into account the often significant presence of wind. Despite taking place in July, the long-term weather forecast suggests that the conditions will be both wet and windy, adding an additional element of difficulty to the tournament.
Our Picks:
Rickie Fowler @16/1
Eight years ago, Rickie Fowler emerged victorious in the Scottish Open, which led to a significant reduction in his odds for the upcoming Open Championship. Although a considerable amount of time has elapsed since then, Fowler approaches this year’s championship with a clear objective and determination. The question remains: Will history repeat itself, and can Fowler reclaim his past success in the tournament?
Tommy Fleetwood @22/1
One of our favourite players on the tour who we back regularly, we just think that sadly he has struggled with consistent form but were taking a punt here as his due a change in fortunes and this is virtually home soil.
Justin Rose @40/1
Earlier this year, Justin Rose secured an outstanding victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, showcasing his enduring skills and ability to triumph over top-tier competitors.
While Rose achieved his sole major championship title at the US Open in 2013, his impressive record includes five additional top-three finishes in major tournaments throughout his career. This attests to his consistent performance at the highest level and underscores his capability to contend with and outperform the very best in the sport.
