The Wimbledon Championships, affectionately referred to as Wimbledon, stands as the most ancient tennis tournament globally and enjoys unparalleled esteem as the most prestigious event in the sport.

Date: Mon, 3 Jul 2023 – Sun, 16 Jul 2023

Prize Money: £44.700.000

Day 1 Main Picks: Men

John Isner vs Jaume Munar – Our Game of the Day.

Our Pick: Isner @4/11

Isner enters this match with a relatively low tournament count time with only eight appearances this season. Despite his limited play, the 38-year-old demonstrated competitiveness at the French Open, where he narrowly lost a fifth-set tiebreak 11-9 to Nuno Borges after an extended period of inactivity. This performance indicates that Isner shouldn’t be underestimated. On the other hand, Munar’s career record on grass stands at 1-10, highlighting his relative inexperience on this surface. However, it’s worth noting that the Spaniard showed promise at Wimbledon last year, securing victories against Thiago Monteiro and pushing Cameron Norrie to a five-set match. Predicting the outcome of this match is challenging, but personally, we lean towards Isner as the more likely victor.

Borna Coric vs Guido Pella – Dog Pick.

Pella @23/10

It’s evident that Guido Pella is not far from reaching his peak performance level. Considering Coric’s difficulties on grass and the fact that Pella’s lefty forehand can neutralize the Croat’s biggest weapon, we can see Pella causing an upset in this match.

Aslan Karatsev vs Luca Van Assche

Karatsev @4/6

Karatsev secured a couple of wins on grass against Corentin Moutet and Maximilian Marterer, but his overall record stands at 2-3. Van Assche, on the other hand, managed a 3-2 record in his debut grass season, albeit against comparatively weaker opponents compared to Karatsev. Despite his historically poor performance on grass, the Russian we think will have enough to win here.

Stan Wawrinka vs Emil Ruusuvuori

Over 39.5 games @4/5

While grass is Stan Wawrinka’s least favorable surface, he will undoubtedly approach this match with great intensity. We hold Wawrinka’s serving skills in high regard, and although he might face challenges from Emil Ruusuvuori in baseline rallies, we expect a closely contested game. If we were to choose a winner, we would slightly lean towards Stan Wawrinka.

Other Men’s Picks:

Casper Ruud @1/5

Novak Djokovic 3-0 @2/7

Andrey Rublev @1/16

Dan Evans @4/5

Day 1 Women’s Picks:

Iga Swiatek vs Zhu Lin – Women’s game of the day.

Swiatek 2-0 @1/9

Swiatek certainly doesn’t have the easiest first-round match, considering Zhu’s recent achievement of reaching the semifinals in the WTA 250 Birmingham tournament. Zhu also demonstrated her capabilities at the Australian Open by defeating the sixth seed, Sakkari. It’s possible that the Pole may face some initial difficulties in the first set. However, we expect Swiatek to ultimately triumph in a closely contested two-set match.

Lesia Tsurenko vs Claire Liu – Dog Pick.

Liu @23/10

This matchup we think will be a closely contested one. Tsurenko brings more experience on grass courts, having reached the third round at Wimbledon on two occasions. On the other hand, the 23-year-old Lin has consistently made it to the second round in all three of her Wimbledon appearances. Considering their respective performances, the younger player seems to possess a bit more energy and enthusiasm to prevail in a tight match.

Marie Bouzkova vs Simona Waltert

Bouzkova @1/4

2022 Wimbledon quarterfinalist has yet to find her grass court form in the run up to SW19. But world number 128 Waltert is making her first main draw appearance at Wimbledon. This should be a match for Bouzkova to play herself into form.

Other Women’s Picks:

Coco Gauff @1/4

Jessica Pegula @1/5

We try to pick our favoured matches as we want wins and will only go for value, especially in the early rounds.
