With the sporting event dates released for 25-28 May 2023, Monaco is preparing to open its doors on a celebratory 80th edition as the world-famous Monaco Grand Prix returns to Monte Carlo for fast and furious fun.
Preview:
Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz crashed in final practice at the Monaco Grand Prix after spending much of the day competing for fastest time.
The Spaniard had just been demoted to third by his team-mate Charles Leclerc when he clipped the inside barrier at the exit of the Swimming Pool section.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen set the pace by 0.065 seconds from Leclerc.
Sainz was third ahead of Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso. Lewis Hamilton was only sixth in the upgraded Mercedes.
The former champions have introduced an upgrade to their car that features new front suspension, sidepods and floor after accepting at the start of the season that they had made a mistake by pursuing a unique design direction that has left them uncompetitive for the last two years.
Betting Picks:
Winner – Max Verstappen @6/4
The Red Bull driver has been in great form (as usual) and if gets to the front will be hard to pass.
Podium – Lewis Hamilton @10/3
Ok so the Mercedes has had an upgrade and this pick is maybe too soon but at these odds on a street circuit is not out of the question.
Podium – Sergio Perez @11/10
The second Red Bull driver can’t be ruled out and at plus odds needs to be taken seriously.
All the action from Monte Carlo will be live on Sky Sports F1. Carlos Sainz set the pace in the opening practice session in Monaco, before Max Verstappen edged out the two Ferraris to top the second session on Friday.4
