Chicago Cubs vs Los Angeles Dodgers – Over 9 @20/23
Taillon is on the pitch for the Cubs and honestly he’s not off to a great start this season, he’s current 0-2 with a 7.0 ERA, Taillon was an ok pitcher for the Yankees last year so this is more of a cold streak but historically he hasn’t done well against the Dodgers (7.71 ERA in 3 career starts). Grove on the other hand has been outright horrible this season and on his last 2 starts he has a 14.73 ERA, Grove has never been historically that great of a pitcher and last year he had a 4.6 ERA.
Both bullpens are also mediocre at best with the Dodgers bullpen recording an awful 6.98 ERA in their last 7 games, although we believe the Dodgers do have some depth their top relief pitchers haven’t really played that much so don’t expect much from them, on the other side of things the Cubs bullpen currently has a 3.86 ERA over their last 7 games (not great but not good).
The Cubs are averaging 5.55 runs per game (5th) while surrendering 4.64 runs in return (14th), while the Dodgers are averaging 6.08 runs per game (2nd) and surrendering 4.23 runs in return (10th). Both teams offence capabilities are pretty decent and with both starting pitchers and both teams bullpen not being that great we see a lot of value at over 9, we fully expect this line to move to either o9.5 or have a lot less juice so I’m going to lock it in early.
Mets vs Athletics – Over 9 @10/11
Both starting pitchers in this game are off to terrible starts this season and let’s expect both of them to give up runs early and often. We think there is a chance the Mets put up close to 9 runs on their own. We also don’t hate over .5 and 1.5 runs in the first inning.
KC Royals -1.5 @21/10 vs ATL Braves – Dog Pick
Yes you read that right!
Kris Bubic. This is our man right here. KC brought in a new pitching coach and damn has it worked wonders for their staff. Bubic has added a slider and has used it in limited capacity but is getting .000 BA off of it. But, the real change is his movement/velocity uptick on his fastball and curveball. His stuff+ (basically velo/movement and arm usage for a pitch) is up an insane amount. His pitches effectiveness has doubled for his fastball and curve compared to last year. It’s only 2 starts and a small sample size, but it’s hard to fake increases velo and movement. One thing this doesn’t factor in is pitch location, so he could always start hanging shit to get blasted. But as of now Bubic looks like a major major breakout candidate.
ATL is banged up. Missing their closer, starting DH, key reliever, starting SS, starting CF and just lost an infielder who’s been playing well and demanding more time due to that play level.
Nationals vs Guardians – Over 9 @20/23
This is a matchup of two pitchers really struggling to start the season. Chad Kuhl is in his first year with the Nats, and we’ll be honest we don’t know how he’s been in the MLB for 6 years. His stuff doesn’t seem to play at this level. Plesac on the Guardians side has also had early troubles posting a 9 ERA in two starts. Feel like this game will have some fireworks.
