Rays -1.5 @20/29 vs Athletics
Rays are currently the hottest team in baseball while the A’s are, well, the A’s. Rasmussen is taking the mound for the Rays, and he comes off a solid start to the season while Kaprielian is taking the mound for the A’s coming off of his last start where he gave up 5 runs. We think the Rasmussen and the Rays’ bats to stay hot and Kaprielian and the A’s to stay cold.
New York Yankees -1.5 @21/20 vs Baltimore Orioles
Yankees taking on the Orioles in game three of the series as they are knotted up at 1-1. In this pitching matchup is Nestor Cortes for the Yanks vs Tyler Wells for the O’s. Cortes had a 2.44 ERA last season and has kept it going this year going 5 innings and only 1 earned in his first start of the year. In 2022 Cortes had three starts vs the Orioles, pitching a total of 18 innings combined in those three starts allowing 0 earned runs with two of those starts coming at Camden Yards. Tyler Wells on the other hand had a 4.25 ERA last season and he surprisingly pitched much worse at home in 2022 than on the road. At home he had a 4.79 ERA while on the road he had a much better 3.81 ERA, good thing he is pitching at home in this one. The Yankees have the edge on the lineup side of things, and the way Cortes has dominated this Orioles lineup in the past we expect the Yankees to put up enough runs in this one to cover the run line and take the 2-1 series lead against the divisional opponent.
Brewers ML @4/6 vs Cardinals
Those that don’t remember, Freddy Peralta was electric back in 2021. Injuries ruined his 2022 season, but he looked back to form against the Mets in his season debut. Peralta has a career 3.25 era at home, which is over a full run better than his road era. He’s also historically been a better pitcher in the first half of the season. The one concern is that Arenado AND Goldschmidt do have good career numbers against him. However, Peralta has neutralized the rest of the Cardinals hitters that he’s previously faced. Milwaukee is also averaging 6 runs per game this season which is second best in the league, and we expect the bats to come out strong against Jake Woodford who got absolutely destroyed in his first start.
