Halftime Show – Number of Songs in Rihanna’s Set: Over/Under 9.5

Our Pick: Under 9.5 Songs Performed

The potential for Rihanna to bring out featured artists from her musical works actually helps the under here. Jay-Z likely will not make an appearance (+200) for his short intro in Umbrella unless it is the opening song to bring in RiRi (Umbrella to start the performance is +600, much better value here). We do believe that Drake making an appearance on stage (+350) is worth a quarter-unit flier, as what better way to promote your new clothing line with the NFL than by featuring at the Super Bowl halftime show with Rihanna who you share five hit songs with. A$AP Rocky appearing on stage with his girlfriend at +200 doesn’t offer enough value, but if he does show up we think it burns some clock for our under. We expect there to be a large amount of theatrics during this halftime show compared to last year’s which was more focused on the classics being played and getting each rapper their shine. Rihanna has never been one to shy away from putting on a show.

  • 2022 – Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, and Eminem: 11 Songs

  • 2021 – The Weeknd: 8 Songs

  • 2020 – Shakira / Jennifer Lopez featuring Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Emme Muñiz: 18 Songs

  • 2019 – Maroon 5 featuring Travis Scott and Big Boi: 9 Songs + Sweet Victory

  • 2018 – Justin Timberlake: 11 Songs

  • 2017 – Lady Gaga: 9 Songs

  • 2016 – Coldplay featuring Beyonce, Bruno Mars, and Mark Ronson: 7 to 8 Songs

Our Pick: Opening Kickoff to NOT Be a Touchback

Both the Chiefs and the Eagles had a touchback rate above 59% this season, which is right around where the rest of the league was in 2022. However, this was up from a 57.5% touchback rate in 2021. It is no coincidence that the Super Bowl trend is dramatically different than what we are seeing as the trend from this NFL season as a whole, and it presents a great chance for us to capitalize.

The ball that is used in the opening kickoff is not a regular football. The footballs used throughout the game get thrown, caught, and pressured by players playing the game. This ball in particular is brand new, has never been touched before, and is blown up to the max with air. Yes, this ball is an absolute ROCK.

State Farm Stadium has a roof that can open and close, but it is not shaped like a dome (have to point that out, sorry not sorry). The roof should be open as the weather is looking like it will be in the 60s with only a 10% chance of rain. A perfect night for football in Arizona, and a perfect night for the commemorative Super Bowl 57 football to struggle to reach the other end zone.
