The Six Nations Championship is an annual international men’s rugby union competition between the teams of England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. The current champions are France, who won the 2022 tournament.

Saturday:

Wales vs Ireland – 2.15pm GMT

This years six nations kicks off in Cardiff with what on paper looks a kind of one sided tie, but we all know Wales can play.

Victory would certainly help to lift the gloom surrounding Welsh rugby off the field at the moment, with the WRU in turmoil over allegations of misogyny, sexism and racism which have led to chief executive Steve Phillips being forced to step down.

For Ireland, the fact that it is World Cup year will be greeted with excitement and cautiousness by supporters as their team have flattered to deceive on previous occasions when they have been touted amongst the favourites to lift the trophy.

In stark contrast to Saturday’s opponents, Andy Farrell’s men enjoyed an unforgettable 2022 which saw them record a first-ever series victory over the All Blacks in New Zealand, before ending the year with a clean sweep in the Autumn Nations.

Our Picks:

Ireland -6.5 @10/11

Under 43.5 @10/11

England vs Scotland – 4.45pm GMT

After the unceremonious sacking of Eddie Jones after a dreadful 2022, the Rugby Football Union have brought in Steve Borthwick to try and alter the direction of this faltering side.

England captain Farrell knows that Scotland will present a stern challenge at Twickenham, with the visitors having the better of the rivalry over the past five years. This said Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend admits that they can’t get carried away by the occasion or else it will cost them.

Our Picks:

England Win @1/3

Over 46.5 Total Points @10/11

Sunday:

Italy vs France – 3pm GMT

On Sunday Italy welcome France to the Stadio Olimpico. The hosts head into the tournament hopeful of ending their run of seven successive wooden spoons, whereas France are bidding for back-to-back Grand Slams a feat which has never been achieved in the Six Nations era.

Despite finishing at the bottom of the Six Nations pile for a seventh successive year last season, 2022 brought with it signs of encouragement for Italy in their hopes of truly competing, we think the French will be too big an ask but will be interesting to see Italy’s progress.

In France’s case, they presents a worrying proposition to the rest of the field considering that they enjoyed their best-ever year in 2022, winning every single one of their 10 fixtures – the only men’s Tier 1 nation to achieve this.

Our Picks:

France -21.5 @1/1

Over 51.5 Points @10/11

We will post game weekend picks throughout the tournament so check back each week for our full picks.
