The Australian Open is a tennis tournament held annually at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The tournament is the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events held each year, preceding the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

We will post daily picks through out the tournament, so be sure to check back daily.

Day 1 Picks:

Grigor Dimitrov vs Aslan Karatsev – over 37.5 games @5/6

Grigor Dimitrov and Aslan Karatsev have faced each other twice before, including in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Aussie Open — and neither contest ended in straight sets. We don’t see anything different taking place this time around. Neither man is playing well enough to handle the other with ease and similarly, neither is playing poorly enough to get blown out. Both are in solid but unspectacular form. A 37.5 number is not particularly large, so any 4-set match should have no trouble going over the total and even a 5-setter is very possible.

Novak Djokovic vs Roberto Beana – Total 3 sets @2/9

Djokovic has won the Australian Open a record nine times and looks set to go all the way again this year.

He frustrates opponents by using his fitness and speed to return seemingly impossible shots and then buries his opponent with winners as the match progresses. The Djoker finds the opening match of grand slams extremely easy and won’t feel the pressure that Baena has playing an all time great.

Jan-Lennard Struff vs Tommy Paul ML @2/5

Paul plays his best tennis on hard courts and his insane speed can return extremely hard shots, he looks too strong for Struff here.

Richard Gasquet ML @8/11 vs Ugo Humbert

It’s an all French battle and although it will be close, Gasquet is in great form coming off an impressive ATP title in Auckland last week. Should make for a close encounter though.

Shuai Zhang ML @1/12 vs Patricia Maria Tig

Up to 22nd in the world Zhang continues to get better with age. She made the third round last year and is much classier than the inexperienced Tig.

Matteo Berrettini vs Andy Murray – Over 38.5 Games @10/11

Tuesday afternoon’s predicted heat – up to 37C – should only aid his big serve which will already get plenty of traction from the courts and balls which we’ve mentioned in previous previews.

Murray will compete, as he always does, but he rarely manages to beat the game’s elite these days, he’s won just four of 22 matches against top-20 opponents across the past two seasons.

The return side of his game has dropped off significantly since his hip surgery and the title dark horse should win this.

John Isner ML @4/5 vs Adrian Mannarino

These two have played eight completed matches and Isner has won the lot. He’s lost just two sets in the process and, importantly for props punters, has lost serve only twice too.

Those are some pretty remarkable stats and show how much trouble Mannarino has returning the huge Isner serve.

To make things doubly difficult for the Frenchman, it would appear Isner has no such problems.

Mattia Bellucci vs Benjamin Bonzi ML @2/5

Bellucci has won plenty of matches on the Challenger Tour and qualified well here last week but this will be the very first match of his career at tour level and it won’t be easy.

Bonzi has started the season well, reaching the final of the ATP event in Pune in the opening week of the campaign.

With more than 100 ranking places between them, expect the class to prevail here.

Other Picks:

Maxime Cressy ML @4/11

Daniel Evens ML @1/9

Casper Ruud ML @1/6

Ons Jabeur ML @1/9
