WDC 2023
PDC World Championships continues today, and its down to the home stretch en route to crowning the 2023 world champion. One thing of note, when we reached the last 32 remaining players, 29 of them are seeded (meaning top 32 in the world). A record for the world championships.
Game Of The Day –
Rob Cross @1/2 vs Chris Dobey
“Voltage” Rob Cross is the current world #6 and is understandably a favorite in his matchup against current world #22 Chris “Hollywood” Dobey.
Cross is a former world champion (2018) and winner of several PDC major tournaments (2019 world match play; 2019 & 2021 European Championship). He’s also reached the finals in several others, finishing runner up in the Premier League, Players championship finals, and UK Open. He certainly does not lack big match experience.
Cross holds a 3-2 advantage over Dobey when it comes to their head-to-head matches. However, Cross is 2-0 against Dobey this year, and has not lost to Dobey in nearly 23 months.
In his previous match against Mervyn King, Cross averaged just under a ton (99.1) and hit 13/30 double opportunities (43.3%). Phenomenal numbers, and if Cross can perform similarly, it will almost assuredly be too much for Dobey to overcome.
