Week 17 Kicks Off Here

Week 16 in the NFL. Christmas week. The majority of these games were played on Saturday. To add to the wintry feel, much of the US experienced extremely low temperatures and snowfall, which made some of the games played this weekend the coldest games played for some time.

A total of 24 teams enter Week 17 still in playoff contention – a nod to the high-level of entertainment value in the NFL in the last two weeks.

There also are eight head-to-head matchups where both teams still have some level of playoff hope. None of those matchups are more-anticipated than the Monday Night Football thriller between Cincinnati and Buffalo. That is the first head-to-head meeting between MVP candidates Josh Allen and Joe Burrow. That is a fitting MNF finale, but there are some great matchups on the schedule.

So we start here with The Titans taking on The Cowboys in the first game of a massive week.

Tennessee Titans vs Dallas Cowboys, 1.15am GMT

Cowboys -14.0 @10/11

Over 40.5 Points @10/11

For the Titans, this game is weirdly meaningless. Their only real path to the playoffs is to win their division by beating Jacksonville next week. Their infirmary is stocked with most of their team, including Tannehill (out), Henry (doubtful), and much of their defense. A defense we mentioned last week being ranked 2nd against the run and now 2nd-last against the pass. They are coming apart at the seams and saving everything they got for next week.

The Cowboys still have plenty to play for. There is a possibility of still winning the division, especially now that Hurts is banged up in Philly, as well as an outside chance at the 1st seed and a bye. Earning homefield advantage, even just for one game, will be all the motivation Dallas needs to crush the Titans.

As long as Dallas exploits that weakness to the pass early, this should hit. We would expect them to want to hammer out an early lead, and then think about protecting their starters.

This looks to be an entertaining game and possibly a one-sided scoring masterclass.
