Martin Schindler @8/15 vs Martin Lukeman
The 26-year old and current world #29, Schindler has been climbing his way up the PDC Order of Merit this year and last. Schindler reached the World Cup of Darts quarterfinal this year, and reached the 5th round of the UK Open. The youngster is a peculiar player; he has won big matches against some of the worlds best, and also experienced several inexplicable losses to lower-ranked players.
Lukeman, on the other hand, is the current world #41, has slipped back a couple spots on the PDC Order of Merit in recent months. This season, Lukeman did have an impressive run into the World Grand Prix quarterfinals, but aside from that and a 4th round finish in the UK Open, he either did not qualify or lost in round 1 of each remaining major tournament.
This match is also Lukeman’s first in the PDC World Championship. For Schindler, this marks his 4th match at the Worlds. In his previous three matches at the worlds, Schindler is 0-3, so still searching for that first world championship W.
