Only four matches on the board today. All involve pretty juiced up favorites. The one we like best, and the tightest of the four, is the veteran Raymond “Barney” van Barneveld vs Ryan “The Barber” Meikle.
RVB, current world #32, has a clear advantage over world #48 Meikle in terms of experience and success. He was the 2007 world champion; 2012 Darts Grand Slam champion; and 2014 Premier League champion. Meikle has never finished better than the last 64 at the worlds, and has only one finish in the last 16 at a major (2019 players championship finals). RVB has 26 televised titles and 17 non-televised titles in his career. Meikle has zero.
RVB also seems to have an edge when it comes to current form as well. Just last month, Barney made a solid run in the Grand Slam, defeating the likes of world #1 Gerwen Price & world #12 Dave Chisnall en route to a semi-final appearance. Meikle reached a semi-final at a non-major ranking event (Players Championship 27), but aside from that hasn’t otherwise had a particularly great year. Meikle also barely thought out a 3-2 win vs Lisa Ashton a few days ago, in a match in which he was big favorite.

The 2023 PDC World Darts Championship is the 30th World Championship organised by the Professional Darts Corporation since it separated from the British Darts Organisation. The event is taking place at the Alexandra Palace in London from 15 December 2022–3 January 2023.
