The Cadence Bank Houston Open is a professional golf tournament held in Texas as part of the PGA Tour. Traditionally played in November, the event was moved to the fall as part of a schedule restructuring in 2019.

This week, we head to Houston, Texas for the Cadence Bank Houston Open. The tournament has gone through various name changes over the years but has always been hosted at Memorial Park Golf Course, a municipal course that can be adapted for professional play. The course has a rich history and underwent a recent redesign, with advisory input from Brooks Koepka.

In terms of length, the course is considered to be on the longer side, playing as a par 70 at 7,412 yards. There are notably some lengthy holes, such as the 522-yard opening par 4 and a 625-yard par 4. However, Data Golf suggests that the course actually plays closer to 7,000 yards. Scoring opportunities may be limited, and in recent years, a score of -13 to -15 has been sufficient to secure victory.

Although the length might suggest an advantage for the long hitters, this hasn’t necessarily been the case in the past. The winners have represented various player profiles, and the leaderboards have showcased a mix of playing styles.

Our Picks: (Most Bookmakers Offering 6+ Places)

  1. Scottie Scheffler @6/1: Scottie is expected to be the favorite, having tied for 2nd place last year. He is determined to make a statement after his impressive final round performance last week. Returning to his native Texas, he will be aiming to reclaim the world number one spot.
  2. Sam Burns @10/1: Sam Burns has recorded consecutive T7 finishes in this tournament. He is likely to be on par with or slightly behind Scottie in terms of odds.
  3. Russell Henley @18/1: Russell Henley, the 2017 champion, has consistently performed well at this event. With momentum on his side, he could be a strong contender once again.
  4. Aaron Wise @14/1: Aaron Wise, a versatile player, has the potential to excel at this course. Coming off a solid finish last week, it will be interesting to see if he can maintain his form.
