Medvedev leads their H2H 3-0. The last time they faced each other, Medvedev managed to come up as a winner in a pretty close encounter.
Sinner back then is nowhere near the player he is at the moment. He has reached lvl 21 this year and has greatly improved his stats. Especially composure, agression and most importantly, confidence.
He has shown couple of times this year he has the game to win the best of the bests (Djokovic at Wimbledon, Alcaraz at us US open).
Medvedev himself has been pretty vulnerable to upsets this year (Van Rijthoven, Gasquet, Wawrinka, Hurkacz). In his last two matches, he was gifted a whole lot of unforced error free points by Basilashvilli and Thiem, deeming the wins not that impressive.
Young Sinner here has all the tools to get his first win over the former No.1.
