Sam Eggington travels to Australia to defend his IBO superwelterweight belt against Ireland’s Dennis Hogan.
Hogan fights out of Australia and the pair meet on Saturday October 10 – which means American, UK and Irish viewers will be watching the card start on Saturday morning – at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre, New South Wales, Australia.

Early on we saw this as a points match, but as the build up grew we more than likely swung because if Eggington is able to hurt Hogan this could easily be over in 5-6 rounds. Sam Eggington will stick with his jab and keep pressure on. When it comes to Hogan he seems to be on the back foot quite often when fighting major competition, he also likes to wrap up once forced to inside and seems to always be looking for a counter . As long as Sam can stick and move he should be able to avoid the counters.
This will be Eggington’s first title defence and he has grinded to this spot, we don’t think he will easily give up his belt. For Hogan this is his 4th title fight appearance and he has been around the block with some of the best, hence why the odds are so close.
