Joe Joyce and Joseph Parker will continue a busy few months for the heavyweight division on Sept. 24 inside the Manchester Arena. A win by either man could have world title implications.
“It’s a very important fight, WBO No. 1 v No. 2,” Queensberry Promotions’ Frank Warren said. “These are not two ordinary Joes. It is not just two guys having a fight. There is the possibility of a big prize at the end of it.”
WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury recently retired. Oleksandr Usyk beat Joshua on Aug. 20 to retain the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles. The Ukrainian also won The Ring belt. Fury then announced his intention to fight Usyk. Anything can happen before fight night, and if Fury decides he doesn’t want to face Usyk, Joyce and his team have been calling for his fight against Joyce to be for the WBC title.
