US Open Tennis Championships

Starting: Mon, 29 Aug 2022 – Sun, 11 Sept 2022

At: USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York.

The US Open Tennis Championships is a hardcourt tennis tournament. Since 1987, the US Open has been chronologically the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year. The other three, in chronological order, are the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon.

Wild Card Entrants:

Venus Williams, 41, made her competitive return to singles competition at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. The two-time US Open champion will return to New York for the first time since 2020. We highlight this entry as it looks set to be sister Serena’s last US Open, in fact her last ever tournament as she is set to retire afterwards. Imagine a all Williams final (Probably not but imagine)

Last U.S Open winners:

Men’s:

The last men’s final was played out between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev, it was one of Djokovic’s most straight forward defeats losing 6-4 6-4 6-4 and making the Russian World No 1, which he currently still holds and was his 1st Grand Slam win. Medvedev is @9/4 to retain his U.S Open Crown.

Women’s:

It seems a distant memory now but the Women’s final was the making of British No1 Emma Raducanu, the young Brit had already played 3 qualifying rounds starting her championship a week before most. She was the first British player to reach and win the US Open since 1977, and the first ever qualifier to go all the way and win a grand slam. Raducanu won 6-4 6-3 in the final vs fellow teenager Leylah Fernandez. Emma is @16/1 to retain this year.

Early Picks: Men’s

Medvedev @9/4

Kyrgios @7/1

Two form players and this would make for a very exciting final. Kyrgios has had his best singles season every and Medvedev is a solid player who due to some restrictions on Russian players has not played as many tournaments this year as most.

Women’s:

Naomi Osaka @6/1

Iga Swiatek @9/4

Osaka is having a great run, staying in control and keeping her emotions in check. Swiatek is and has been for a while unplayable, and would take a massive performance from any opponent to beat her.

We will post daily picks from the US open so check back once the championship starts.
