Boston Red Sox vs Blue Jays ML @8/11
This Red Sox team is banged up and broken. They didn’t allow double digit runs today which is improvement, but still lost handily 4-1. In addition to a number of pitchers being on the IL, the Sox have now added Rafael Devers to the list, while J.D. Martinez is day-to-day. Without both players tomorrow we doubt their offense picks up much against Ross Stripling who has been brilliant. In his 45 innings since the beginning of June, Stripling has a 2.00 ERA and 0.93 WHIP. His changeup is deadly, with batters hitting below the mendoza line on it at .188. Brayan Bello is the product of all of those pitching injuries, thrusted into the big leagues well before he’s ready. He’s very clearly got the ‘stuff’ but needs to refine it. A 97mph fastball he struggles to locate is a clear sign of that. I doubt the explosive Blue Jays offense takes long to get to him, as it didn’t take long for the Rays to, and we’ll be confidently backing the Blue Jays to complete the sweep.
