Pocono Raceway also known as the Tricky Triangle, is a superspeedway located in the Pocono Mountains in Long Pond, PA. The 2.5 mile track began hosting NASCAR races in 1974 with a 500 mile race. Pocono Raceway is an asphalt triangle oval with each corner modelled after a few other famous ovals. Turn one (14 degree banking), is inspired by Trenton Speedway (Closed 1980). Turn two (9 degree banking), is inspired by Indianapolis Motor Speedway and turn three (6 degree banking), is inspired by the Milwaukee Mile.

This race will consist of 3 stages totalling 160 laps covering 400 miles.

Our Picks: Outright:

Race winner Pick – Denny Hamlin @13/2

Top 3 Finish – Kyle Busch @21/10

Top 10 Finish – Austin Dillon @7/2

Outsider Pick:

Ross Chastain @9/1

All tracks are not created equal. God bless it, but Pocono is Pocono. The only way to make this race entertaining is to kill the stages. That won’t happen and it likely won’t even work. Aside from sipping on the steel cylinders of a special sponsor, Lets all enjoy Pocono.

As always, trust the spreadsheet but also trust your eyes. Here are the best bets for the NASCAR Cup Series M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400 at Pocono, which gets underway Sunday, July 24th.
