Who Will Succeed Boris as PM
So we are down to the last 8 and in a few week will know who takes over as Tory leader and Prime Minister, although it could be a short rein if we get a general election (lets be honest we need one)
So here are the contenders and our pick:
Rishi Sunak @7/4 (Favourite)
Rishi Sunak is a British politician who served as Chancellor of the Exchequer from 2020 to 2022, having previously served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been Member of Parliament for Richmond since 2015. Can we trust Rishi? seems his the main man in Boris’s demise and dont seem very interested in helping out with the cost of living crisis.
Penny Mordaunt @15/8
Penelope Mary Mordaunt FRSA VR is a British politician who has been serving as Minister of State for Trade Policy since 2021. A member of the Conservative Party, she has been the Member of Parliament representing Portsmouth North since 2010. We personally know very little about Penny but she seems a popular choice.
Liz Truss @3/1 (Our Pick) Because we have to pick someone. And read below.
Mary Elizabeth Truss is a British politician who has been the Member of Parliament for South West Norfolk since 2010. She has served as Foreign Secretary since 2021 and Minister for Women and Equalities since 2019. We think she seems the most straight forward, honest and in our opinion strongest candidate remaining who wont take no messing about.
Kemi Olufunto Badenoch @12/1
Olukemi Olufunto Badenoch is a British politician who has served as Member of Parliament for Saffron Walden since 2017. A member of the Conservative Party, she served as Minister of State for Local Government, Faith and Communities and Minister of State for Equalities between 2021 and 2022.
Tom Tugendhat @18/1
Thomas Georg John Tugendhat MBE VR is a British politician. A member of the Conservative Party, he has served as Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee since 2017. Tugendhat has been the Member of Parliament for Tonbridge and Malling since 2015.
Jeremy Hunt @40/1
Jeremy Richard Streynsham Hunt is a British politician serving as Chair of the Health and Social Care Select Committee since 2020.
Nadhim Zahawi @66/1
Nadhim Zahawi is an Iraqi-born Kurdish-British politician serving as Chancellor of the Exchequer since 5 July 2022. A member of the Conservative Party, he has been Member of Parliament for Stratford-on-Avon since 2010. Would be a popular choice, we think taking the Chancellor job when he did scuppered his chances.
Suella Braverman @50/1
Sue-Ellen Cassiana “Suella” Braverman QC is a British politician and barrister who has been the Attorney General for England and Wales since 2020. She has been Member of Parliament for Fareham since 2015. A member of the Conservative Party, she chaired the European Research Group from 19 June 2017 to 9 January 2018.
