Golfers will travel to Silvis, Illinois, with the goal of securing one of the remaining three spots in The Open Championship at St Andrews. The John Deere Classic will once again take place at TPC Deere Run, which has been the host venue for the past two decades. It is expected that we will witness another highly competitive tournament at this location. TPC Deere Run is a par 71 course spanning 7,289 yards, but it will likely play shorter than its actual length. The majority of the course’s distance is concentrated in the par 5s and one of the par 3s.
In recent years, the winning score at this event has ranged from 18 under to an impressive 20 under on nine occasions. Admittedly, the field for this tournament may not be the strongest, but with a substantial purse of 7 million, players will be eager to secure one of the coveted spots in The Open Championship. Such events often provide opportunities for underdogs to shine, and this tournament is no exception, where players with odds of 100-1 or higher have a legitimate chance of performing well.
Examining the previous winners at TPC Deere Run, we can observe that golfers with various skill sets have succeeded here, ranging from long hitters to accurate ball-strikers. When considering the statistics, it becomes evident that, as is often the case in high-scoring tournaments, the most crucial factors are approach play and putting.
