Joyce is undefeated since turning professional. He has won all of his 13 fights, with 12 of them coming by way of knockout. He has fought just once since beating Dubois. He stopped Carlos Takam in the sixth round last July, and he knows he needs to make light work of Christian Hammer in order to be taken seriously again.
Romanian-German Hammer is no push over. He has had 35 professional fights and won 26 of them with nine defeats. He has been in the ring with the likes of Tyson Fury, Hughie Fury, Luis Ortiz, Alexander Povetkin, David Price and Michael Sprott. Unfortunately for Hammer, I just see him as a tune-up fight for Joyce to get him in shape in preparation to move up the rankings and move into title contention. With only one of Joyce’s fights going the distance, we cannot see this one going 12 rounds. In fact, we expect Joyce to make light work of Hammer and knock him out in the fourth round. An impressive fight could see him take on Parker in the future and that would more than likely be an eliminator for a title shot.
Joe Joyce will be looking to prove to everyone that he deserves a world title shot when he takes on Christian Hammer at Wembley Arena on July 2.
