The Wimbledon Championships, affectionately referred to as Wimbledon, stands as the most ancient tennis tournament globally and enjoys unparalleled esteem as the most prestigious event in the sport.

Date: Mon, 1st Jul 2024 – Sun, 14th Jul 2023

Prize Money: £44.700.000 (2023)

Day 3 Main Picks:

Denis Shapovalov vs Daniel Altmaier

Shapovalov 3-0 @10/11

Denis Shapovalov defeated the dangerous, Nicolas Jarry in straight sets in the first round. Shapovalov served well, never being broken, and grabbed possession of the match early in the first set. Daniel Altmaier did well to win his first match at Wimbledon but his level isn’t good enough to trouble the Canadian.

Alexander Bublik vs Arthur Cazaux

Over 40.5 games @10/11

Arthur Cazaux made life difficult for himself after being ahead two sets but did well to compose himself and win the match. Cazaux has been through a lot this season, so this was a much-needed win for him. Bublik also played a five-setter but an opposite scenario from Cazaux. He was down 2 sets and upped his level from the third set to win comfortably at the end. The Kazakh will need to be more clinical on break points to win his next match.

Daniil Medvedev vs Alexandre Muller

Medvedev 3-0 @1/3

Daniil Medvedev looked comfortable in his first match and served at a good rate. He is a bit underrated on grass considering he has a healthy 66% win rate on this surface. Medvedev will get better with every match and Alexandre Muller doesn’t have the big serve to trouble him.

Carlos Alcaraz vs Aleksandar Vukic

Alcaraz 3-0 @4/9

It was already a shock when Vukic defeated Alcaraz at Roland Garros way back, this would be even bigger. The Australian is likely doing enough to hang around on the main tour now and can produce upsets from time to time, especially if he serves well. But it will probably be a case of Alcaraz raising his level if necessary as he did in round one.

Linda Noskova vs Bianca Andreescu

Andreescu ML @11/10

Andreescu has a good playing style for managing Noskova’s power. The Canadian’s athleticism and counterpunching can nullify her opponent if she is at her best. We think Andreescu will have enough to progress.

Lulu Sun vs Yulia Stardoubtseva

Sun ML @1/1

Sun stunned Qinwen Zheng in the previous round. Backing up surprise victories can be tough, but she is backed to win once again. The 23-year-old impressed me so much that we believe she will build on the momentum from the previous round.

Emma Raducanu vs Elise Mertens

Raducanu ML @1/2

Raducanu scored an excellent win in the first round here and has a chance to make a run here in her home Slams as she keeps looking to replicate her US Open 2021 title run. Mertens won’t be an easy opponent, though, and it should be a very close match.

We try to pick our favoured matches as we want wins and will only go for value, especially in the early rounds.
