The Australian Open is a tennis tournament held annually at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The tournament is the first of the four Grand Slam tennis events held each year, preceding the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.

We will post daily picks through out the tournament, so be sure to check back daily.

Our Picks:

Andrey Rublev vs Jannik Sinner

Pick: Sinner -5.5 @5/6

Sinner is yet to drop a set and it’s just hard to imagine him getting stopped by anyone not named Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz right now. He should have a safe passage to the semifinals here as well. In many ways, he’s an improved version of Rublev. More dynamic in his ball-striking, no backhand weakness, serve with more potential going forward, now even the added variety. It’s just very hard to see a path to victory for the Russian in the best-of-five format now, especially as he’s never even defeated Sinner in a completed match.

Novak Djokovic vs Taylor Fritz

Pick: Djokovic to win and Both players to win a set @5/4

This is one of the matchups that Fritz dreads the most and the key will be to tackle it with the same mindset that he challenged Tsitsipas with in Round 4. He needs to swing freely here and just see if an opportunity pops up. The issue is that Djokovic is looking much better now after struggling with a cold in the first two rounds. He’s always been good at unpacking one-dimensional linear power coming at him and it’s tough to see what the American can do to break out of these patterns here.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Barbora Krejcikova

Pick: Sabalenka 2-0 @1/2

This was an infamous matchup last year. Krejcikova pulled off a stunning comeback against Sabalenka in Dubai and pointed out that she wants to be included in the same league with her, Świątek, and Rybakina. Then she lost to the same opponent three times in quick succession. Krejcikova did well to go all out and attack Andreeva in the fourth round, but this is a step up and she’ll need an off-day from Sabalenka to prevail. That rarely happens on these courts (or in general of late).

Coco Gauff vs Marta Kostyuk

Pick: Gauff -5.5 @8/11

Marta Kostyuk is into her first Grand Slam quarterfinal in fine fashion. She’s playing well and her style of play suggests she won’t fear the occasion. Gauff is just so reliable nowadays, however, and won’t give the Ukranian an inch. We don’t think it’s the kindest match-up for Kostyuk and I’m expecting Gauff’s level to be very high.
